The six sessions

Which one is right for you

Six practices in one room, with one person. You do not have to know in advance which one concerns you: we talk about it when you arrive, and we choose together.

the core session

Kinesiology

Who it is for, and more about this format

The session to take when you do not know where to start

  • Stress that will not come back down
  • Patterns that keep repeating
  • Children: fears, separation, school

It is the widest way in at the practice, and the one people ask for most. You stay dressed, lying down or seated, and muscle testing amounts to very light pressure on the forearm. We start from what you can put into words — or from what you cannot put into words yet — and we move at your pace. You leave with one or two concrete keys to practise at home.

It is the only one of the six that is also for babies and children. For a very small child the test goes through the parent, and the session is far shorter in terms of attention.

the oil massage

Tuina massage

Who it is for, and more about this format

The massage that is done with oil

  • A knotted neck and shoulders
  • Days spent at a screen
  • Tiredness on waking

The massage is done with oil, on a couch and under a sheet: you are uncovered only on the area being worked, and the rest of the body stays covered. The pressure is firm, never rough, and you set it with me all the way through the session. It is the format chosen by women who find a relaxing massage too uncommitted.

Not to be confused with physiotherapy: massage for a medical purpose is the field of masseurs-kinésithérapeutes, state-registered health professionals holding a state diploma. What happens here is a wellbeing massage.

the gentlest session

Women only

Lymphatic drainage

Who it is for, and more about this format

The gentlest session at the practice

  • Heavy legs
  • A feeling of swelling
  • A need for lightness

The pressure is deliberately very light — that is the condition for the movement to make any sense at all. We always start with the collecting areas before going any further, and plenty of people fall asleep halfway through. Allow an hour and a half in your diary, and drink water in the hours that follow.

It is the format I suggest when you are shy about your body, or worried about being pressed on: you are uncovered only on the area being worked, and the rest of the body stays covered at all times.

the work with wood

Maderotherapy

Who it is for, and more about this format

The most vigorous session, and you feel it

  • Silhouette and firmness
  • The orange-peel look
  • Circulation at a standstill

Wooden instruments — rollers, cups, boards — then a time of manual drainage to finish: that is what I call the Madérosculpt. It is firm, never violent, and the intensity is yours from beginning to end. Slight redness can appear, and it goes within a few hours.

It goes alongside the way you eat and the way you move, it does not stand in for either — and nobody can honestly promise you a result in figures.

Family constellations

Who it is for, and more about this format

The only format that also exists in a group

  • Stories that repeat
  • Family secrets
  • Finding your place

In a group, you choose participants to stand for the people in your system and you place them in relation to one another. One to one, we use markers set on the floor. In both cases you put one question, a single one, and you are never required to give details.

It is the longest session and the most intense emotionally: it is something you prepare for, and we talk about it beforehand. Booking is by phone only: I am the one who sets the dates of the group constellations. It is neither psychotherapy nor a medical act.

Hijama — dry cupping

Who it is for, and more about this format

Announced, not yet open

  • A tight upper back
  • The cupping tradition
  • A woman practitioner

DRY cups only, on intact skin, with no incision at all — wet hijama is a medical act reserved for authorised health professionals, and it is not practised here. The equipment is single-use or sterilised, and the work most often covers the upper back and the trapezius muscles.

This practice is not open for booking yet. Write to me to be told as soon as it is.

Help choosing

Which session for which situation

Find the line that comes closest to where you are at the moment, and follow it. If none of them really fits, tell me: we adjust together at the first appointment.

Prices

Where to find the price of each session

There is no price list on this site, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight. The up-to-date prices are the ones shown in the online diary at the moment you choose a slot — that is the only source that is always current. If you would rather ask before booking, call: the answer takes thirty seconds.

See the prices and the available slots

The diary opens in a new tab. You will see the six sessions there, how long each one lasts, its price, and the slots genuinely free over the coming weeks.

If you would rather ask before booking, call 06 98 70 03 47. It is often simpler, especially for a first time.

The conversation at the start and the quiet ending are never counted against you.

What you book is time
Included in the time you book

What you are booking, exactly

A quiet moment, a cup set down near a window
  1. 10 minutes

    The conversation before

To talk about what brings you here, about any medication under way, a pregnancy, an apprehension. It is never counted against the session.

  2. Depends on the session

    The session itself

Depending on the practice you choose. The exact length is in the table above, and on the page of each session.

  3. 5 minutes

    Coming back to quiet

So that you do not get up all at once, and a glass of water. You are not asked to conclude anything.

Every session takes place at the same address, 4 place d’Ainay in Lyon. There is only one practice, so there is no supplement for the place.

The budget question

Is any of it reimbursed ?

Not by the French health insurance: these are not regulated health professions, so none of these sessions is covered. Some private complementary insurers — « mutuelles » in France — do include an annual allowance for « médecines douces » or wellbeing. It depends entirely on your contract: a three-minute call settles the question.

More in the frequently asked questions — what insurers cover, and exactly what to ask them.

Practical side

Paying, booking, moving an appointment

Payment

In cash, French cheque or bank transfer, on the spot, at the end of the session. There is no card terminal at the practice.

Booking

Online in the diary at any hour, or by phone on 06 98 70 03 47 if you would rather talk before fixing a date.

Book an appointment

If something comes up

Tell me as soon as you know, by phone or from the diary: the slot can then be offered to someone else. A fever or an infection under way moves the session anyway.

Still hesitating between two sessions ?

How a session runs, how long it really takes, the precautions: it is all set out on the questions page.

Frequently asked

What people ask me before they choose

The questions that come up at the moment of deciding.

The price depends on the session and on how long it lasts. Up-to-date prices are shown at the moment you choose a slot in the online diary, and you can also ask me directly on 06 98 70 03 47: I take the time to answer. Payment is made on the spot, in cash, by French cheque or by bank transfer.

Not by the French health insurance. Some private complementary insurers (mutuelles) do include an annual allowance for « médecines douces » which can cover kinesiology sessions, on presentation of an invoice — one is given to you on request. The amounts and the eligible disciplines vary a great deal from one contract to another: call your insurer before booking, it takes five minutes.

It depends on the session. For kinesiology and family constellations, you stay dressed from beginning to end. For Tuina massage, lymphatic drainage and maderotherapy I work under a sheet: only the area being worked is uncovered, the rest of the body stays covered. If you are shy about your body, tell me — I will pay all the more attention to it.

Allow an hour to an hour and a quarter for kinesiology, an hour and a half for Tuina massage and for lymphatic drainage, an hour for maderotherapy and for dry cupping. For family constellations, how long it takes depends on the format: we talk it through together before fixing the appointment. These timings are approximate — if needed, we take the time to welcome whatever needs to be welcomed.

That depends on you, and be wary of anyone who gives you a number over the phone. Some people come once, for one precise situation. Others find it useful to come back three to six times, two to four weeks apart. No package is sold in advance here: you decide each time.

Ask it as it stands: « Does my contract include an allowance for médecines douces or wellbeing? Are kinesiology sessions eligible, for how much, and how many sessions a year? » Ask them as well what supporting document they expect — tell me after the session and I will give you what is needed.

The tempo of a session

Nothing spectacular: slow movements, and time that does not count.

What if you put yourself at the top of the list?

One hour. Nothing to organise, nothing to explain, nothing to get right. Booking takes two minutes, and the room is on 4 place d’Ainay, in the heart of Lyon’s Presqu’île.
